Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! This is Miranda, the Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) at Nishineyagawa. Did you have a relaxing winter holiday? How did you celebrate your Christmas and New Year’s? I enjoyed visiting my family and friends in America. My family lives in New York, where it was snowing. Osaka is now very cold too, so I hope you are staying warm!

In December, to celebrate the holiday season, ESS Club had a Christmas party. We made yummy sweets by cooking pancake mix in a Takoyaki maker. Then, we ate what we had made, talked together, and watched the movie Tangled. Did you know that the movie is called Rapunzel in Japanese, but Tangled in English? Tangled, for example, is what happens to your hair after a windy day. I thought it was very interesting that the English and Japanese names are slightly different!

The end of the school year is coming up soon. Our ESS Club members are third-year students, so I am sad that they will be graduating, but excited to see what their futures hold. If you are interested in joining ESS Club, we welcome you!

メリークリスマスそして明けましておめでとうございます！西寝屋川英語指導助手のミランダです！年末年始はゆっくりできましたか？クリスマスとお正月はどうやってお祝いしましたか？私はアメリカの家族と友達に会いに行って、すごく楽しい時間を過ごしました。私の家族が住んでいるニューヨークでは雪がたくさん降っていました。大阪もとても寒くなってきたので、皆さん暖かく過ごしてくださいね。

12月にホリデーシーズンを祝うために、ESS部はクリスマスパーティーをしました！パンケーキミックスをたこ焼き器で焼いて、美味しいスイーツを作りました。それから、できたスイーツを食べて、一緒にお喋りして、「塔の上のラプンツェル」という映画を見ました。日本語でラプンツェルと言いますが、英語名は「Tangled」といいます。Tangledの意味は例えば風がとても強い一日の後の髪の毛の状態です。「絡まっている」という意味です。英語と日本語の名前が少し違うことを初めて知って面白かったです！
